PRENATAL YOGA

What is prenatal yoga?

Prenatal yoga is a refuge from the everyday hustle. Yoga during pregnancy is perfect for those who long for quiet moments to enjoy the growing baby in their womb. Along with other pregnant women, you will get a unique connection to your body and the journey you go through during pregnancy. Prenatal yoga is not just for late in the pregnancy. You can participate from week 12 and until your due date.

Experience with other forms of yoga is not required to be able to benefit from these classes – just like it is never too late in the pregnancy to begin prenatal yoga.

When you do yoga when pregnant, I recommend that you use both yoga pillows and blankets. Also make sure you wear clothes that make you feel nice and comfortable .

How does prenatal yoga Work?

At mamma yoga, classes are guided at a steady pace and flow. We have a profound focus on  your breathing and how to arrange your hands, feet and yourself on the yoga mat, so that you experience how to create room for the baby and for your body when you are doing yoga.

We guide you through a series of exercises that alleviate the most common pregnancy complaints such as pain in the pelvis, lower back and spine. Un-comfort that most pregnant women encounter sometime during their pregnancy. These exercises naturally take into account the fact that there are certain positions you just can’t do.

When we give extra attention to good posture, it is because we know from experience that a healthy posture helps to ensure optimal positioning of the baby in the pelvis.

Yoga helps – whether you’re pregnant or not – to strengthen and smoothen the body. But when pregnant, certain yoga postures can turn out to be the support that gets you through contractions, when they really start to ‘bite’. Therefore we work with continuous breathing exercises and contraction-regulatory exercises that can give you peace of mind and support you during labor.

What are the benefits of prenatal yoga classes?

As you follow a prenatal yoga class(es), you become much better prepared, both physically and mentally for the birth itself. Every class is a small haven that focuses on you, your body, your breathing and the baby in the womb.

It is my experience that prenatal yoga gives you the opportunity to discover and explore the physical and psychological resources you already contain. It is a unique opportunity to open up to your inner power and strength – it will certainly benefit you, both during pregnancy and during labor.

Each yoga class ends with deep relaxation, where you will be able to lie on the yoga mat with blankets and with the back and spine supported. Dim lights. Calm descends and you can relax and become one with your breath.

At mamma yoga we continuously run new classes. Check back here for openings.
